Getting started
-
I work out of a private studio in west Berkeley. It is accessible by some public transit lines, and it is wheelchair accessible.
I love to travel and come to cities like LA, SD, and NYC at least once a year.
-
Yes! I am more than happy to schedule a free consultation that we can do over Facetime, Zoom, or in person at my studio. Larger multi-session projects require a consultation. You can email me olivetreetattoos@gmail.com to schedule.
-
I do not, but I’m happy to recommend other local artists who do great color tattoos!
-
I take on cover-ups on a case-by-case basis, I like to see the existing tattoo and we chat about ideas on what can go over it.
-
I am so honored you want me to do your first tattoo! Here’s a little document I made that might help ease the process so you can feel prepared and know what to expect for the session.
-
You can book with me via this link. From there you can browse my flash and/or request a custom tattoo.
-
I am generally pretty fast with my responses! I try to get back to people within a couple days, possibly longer if I happen to be traveling.
-
I am usually booking 1-3 months out from the date that you submit your booking request. That being said, I sometimes have last minute availability and try to accommodate your dates if you’re from out of town. If you are making a trip out to the Bay and want a tattoo, feel free to dm me! I unfortunately cannot accommodate customs with short notice.

Preparing for your appointment
-
I highly recommend moisturizing the area for two weeks before the appointment. This makes it a much smoother process to tattoo because your skin will receive the ink better!
It is also important to keep the area you want tattooed out of the sun. If the area you want tattooed is sunburnt we will not be able to do the tattoo there.
The Night Before:
Getting a good night’s rest is super important. Sleep is so important for many reasons - but being well rested has been shown to increase our pain tolerance – so your tattoo will not hurt as much! Please do not drink alcohol before the night before. Alcohol and tattoos do not mix because it is a blood thinner and will make you bleed more during the process.
The Day Of:
Make sure you eat a good nourishing meal at least 2 hours before our appointment. Food is super vital in keeping our blood sugar levels steady while tattooing. I also have snacks at my studio. We are always able to take a break at anytime for anything you need (water/food/etc).
Feel free to bring anything else to make yourself comfortable – things to watch/read/fidget with.
-
Once your booking is confirmed with a deposit (which acts as the drawing fee), I always send the design with enough time prior to the appointment for you to review and make edits. You can expect a message from me with a first mockup anywhere between 1-2 weeks before our session.
-
Yes, you are welcome to bring someone to the appointment. My studio space is small so I just ask for a heads up beforehand.
-
Your deposit is good for one reschedule if made at least 48 hours prior to your appointment. No call/no-shows will not be rescheduled.
-
Yes! My studio is fully wheelchair accessible, and the bathrooms are large and single-stalled.
-
Please let me know if you are more than 10 minutes late. I want to avoid this at all costs but to ensure more predictability in my schedule I will add a late fee of $50 if you are more than 30 minutes late.
