Olivetreetattoos
Hello!
My name is Oliver (they/them) I am a self-taught trans tattoo artist based in Berkeley CA.
I grew up on the east coast outside NYC. As a child, I remember feeling quite inspired by the outdoors, but particularly the mountains. I feel most happiest when in nature and in community, which is a huge reason I wanted to move out to California which has been my home since October 2024.
My creative practice is centered on what can be found in nature, and then giving it a fun little illustrative spin. I love adding organic shapes and textures to my designs. What I love most about tattooing is the idea that we can give ourselves the autonomy to feel safe, embodied, and further connected to the world around us.
I began tattooing in January 2024, and in July 2025 I made tattooing my full-time job and couldn’t be more grateful to do this work with all my wonderful clients.
Tattoo offerings
-
Flash are pre-drawn designs.
All of my flash can be found here and also on instagram. Most of my flash is repeatable, unless specified as a first-come, first-served design.
-
Freehand tattoos are designs that we draw together directly on your skin with stencil markers at the start of our appointment.
They require a lot of trust and patience in the process.
The process will be incredibly collaborative, and I have so much fun doing them!
-
I love getting custom requests! I am happy to bring your idea to life.
Some customs I will not take on if it falls outside of my style, but I will gladly recommend another local artist who I believe will be better suited for your idea. For example, I will not tattoo text, human imagery, or in color ink.
Please refer to my customs page for more info on my custom design process and policies.
My Approach to Tattooing
I find tattooing to be an incredibly powerful and transformative practice, and put this energy to each session. I care very deeply that each person who decides to get a tattoo from me feels that their needs are seen and valued. (If that means moving the stencil 100x then that is what we’ll do!) Consent is at the front of this practice, where we make decisions collaboratively and have time for checking in.
Tattoos can be a form of healing – an act that can fulfill needs for autonomy and artistic expression. I often think of tattoos as representations of what has always been within us, but just need time to settle on our bodily surface. I hope to create intentionality around the tattoos that I do, no matter flash or custom. I am also very excited to do any kind of gender-affirming tattoo, and love working with other trans people in creating designs that feel empowering to their identity.
When submitting a request for tattoo, I am always excited to hear about what this tattoo means to you or how I can make the experience a good one. I am always open to feedback and want to make sure you leave my chair with a tattoo you love.
